Classic in true sense!!
Well,i guess why mani ratnam is favourite to many. One film that I find one of his classic works is "mouna ragam".A film with simplicity, the characters as natural and realistic as they can be.Its very easy to create classics on serious and thought provoking subjects but to create a classic with romance, love and sacrifice as theme is truly difficult. But mani ratnam pulls it off so naturally and beautifully that you are bound to like it.For those who havent seen it is original "hum dil de chuke sanam" with slight changes to be precise. But once if you this film the later is no where to match. The first half is as entertaining and bubbly and the second half is treated with equal maturity. And revathy at her best bringing that innocence, bubbliness in first half and maturity in the second half. And the sensitivity with which the second half is handled is commendable. What made me write about this film is the sheer beauty of the film and the fact i can watch it innumerable times.

Gold rush!!
Well the new poster boy or to say golden boy who has overshadowed the very likes of our favourite cricketers is none other than abhinav bhindra. An individual gold medal after so many decades and making us realise that we do have that potential and zeal to make a mark in the world sports arena. But here comes the unfortunate part where the glory and fame turns into a bit of exaggeration. The ever energetic and hyper indian media starts its usual thing of over dramatising the whole event and hampering the real essence of his winning glory.Firstly his privacy goes for a toss chasing him from beijing to delhi and then to his home.Running after his family members including his sister, intruding their privacies discussing from his childhood to his future prospects of getting married.Agreed he has brought so much fame and glory to the nation but at the end of the day he is a young chap, need his share of privacy. This is where we indians need to show a little calmness and patience, true that we are hyperactive, emotional to core but overdoing everthing will only degrade the glory earned. Now the poor rajyavardhan rathod is nomore in the focus and noone is going to ask him unless he earns another medal in next olympic. This is the unfortunate part of earning glory and fame in india, the rate with which you are appreciated loved and adored,in the same rate you are thrown out of throne once you lose the glory. What weneed is a little calmness and soberness in our appreciation to someone and even in his downfalls needs to show concern and assurance that we do believe in you. That is what a young and talented sportsmen need to succeed that little assurance and faith. And then we can see many poster boys evolving!!

How much you love your country???
Well the whole country is celebrating its 61st independence day.If you ask any school going kid or college going guy the relevance of this day,it wont be more than a holiday for them when they can watch nice patriotic movies and some channels even dont bother and put some masala movie in this day also.Well you really cant blame them also for their ignorance that how lucky they are to be living in a free nation, how to preserve its integrity and soverignty. But it should not to be mistaken that today's young generation doesnt care about its nation. It does care but yes its not that expressive in that.If you ask I am extremely proud to be born as an indian and will be happy to be reborn as an indian only.I love its multiethinicity, its cultural diversity, its core existence. No country in the world can boast of the cultural and language diversity that we have.Yes if you ask what you do for your country in everyday life.yes nothing special, but that doesnt mean i dont love my nation.I dont have to pass some test of passion for my nation. If we were under slavery at this time we also would have fought for our freedom, noone likes to live under slavery. But im not in anyway disrespecting the sacrifices done by our freedom fighters,I just want to reiterate the fact that we youngsters are also passionate about our nation and if situation arises we will also contribute for its prosperity. So my love for my nation is something which cant be expressed in words same as a mother cant explain how much she loves her child!!!

deal or nodeal.
Well recently the nuclear deal being one of the important issues faced by government overiding the important issues like inflation and crimes. But what is ammusing is to see the attitude of left parties and others opposing some on the reason that it would be anti-islamic.This is the most rediculous reasons, how in the world it is connected to muslims anyway.it is a deal related to india's entry into the elite club of nuclear powers and it would be a great oppurtunity for a growing country like india to utilise this power for energy purposes, for development purposes.Since this deal has been carefully crafted with the consultations with all the seniour scientists and analysts its in the interest of the nation to go ahead with the deal. And those opposing the deal even dont have concrete reasons to prove their point. Is india such a small democracy or its authority is so poor that it cant take decisions on its own and would be pressurized by other nations. This is even more rediculous. What is the need of the hour is to stand above all party lines and should support the government for the better future of india!!

Back to roots!!
Recently went to chennai,a place which some years back I hated to go.But as saying goes life takes a full circle,it seems same for me.Dates back to my childhood when in every summer holidays i would along with my mom go to my grandmom's house. The excitement of going in train, sitting next to window(that was very important),wearing the prettiest frocks for travelling and getting lot of scolds from mom for that and ofcourse the delicious mangoes all part of memories of going to chennai.Playing with my cousins the stupidest games in the world, getting scared when a street vendor screaming for old bottles and the sweet smell of jasmine. The love and care of my grandmom who is no more with the kindness she would serve all of us food, make delicious sweets and savouries and my grandfather scolding for getting ourselves dirty in mud and the era of songs of illayraja in the background allpart of my memories of chennai. Circa 2008 things are very different but what hasnt changed is the thin but prominent desire to come back to roots,to come back to this place which in no sense heaven with lot of things, issues fitting to my desires but still a place i would love to go now with no reasons in mind but just an indepth desire.

Onbench or out of bunch!!
Well as part of a large software fraternity(useless) to be precise,i now find the word onbench very troublesome and worrying.Well when you get your first job,the pleasure of earning by yourself and ofcourse a life full of aspirations does makes you feel good. But that very happiness goes into drain when your skills are not utilized and kept "onbench".Agreed there can be recession, downfalls in every company but keeping someone idle for almost 1 year and paying them for nothing is something like sweet poison. It is sweet in the beginning but later it is as bitter as it could be!!People may say what you have done to increase your skills. We try our best to be in touch with what we are good at but unless you have hands on experience of something then whats the point in mugging from books.Nothing is better than practical experience. You cant learn cycling reading from a book unless you learn by riding it,falling, hurting and then you learn!!Same for work.Only practical training will help you learn.Ofcourse onbench is an illusive word whose meaning nor does the heads of S/W co. know nor the employees themselves. And thats what makes you out of bunch where you are out of the group luckily who are having some work to do.

NOSTALGIA at its best!!!
Well while switching channels(btw my favourite hobby) i "accidently" bumped in to doordarshan unfortunately and saw the "mile sur mera tumhara" and believe it or not cried because it took me back to the times when i was this young girl in 3rd or 4th standard, with so much of innocence and happiness with which i used to watch this ad and sing along, some of the languages which i even dont know i used to sing with ease because it was kind of bihearted and so much in to our memories that it is difficult to forget.Ask anyone of that era of 80's and they will turn emotional with the other ads of khaitan fans, the dhara ad where the kid jumps on food stuffs, the gold spot ad and many more.I bet if doordarshan rereuns those ads and old serials like circus, flopshow, humlog and many more of that era people will watch it with same enthuaism and it will generate more TRPs than IPL i bet. When the hell doordarshan will realise that it is sitting on the bed of gold with such nostalgic archives with it.I hope the heads of prasar bharati realise this instead of churning stupid new programs it better show rereuns of old ads and serials it has in its archives and see how it will change the very fortunes of its dismal broadcasting!!!
